Labyrinths: Jorge Luis Borges Fanlisting

About

Borges (1899-1986) never wrote a novel; he wrote short stories, essays, fables and poetry. Many of his best known writings are in the genre of 'speculative' fiction. He liked to play with concepts and to take ideas to their logical extremes. Borges' most famous creations include a fictional universe that overtakes the real one ('Tlön, Uqbar, Orbius Tertius'); a society in which everyone's life proceeds according to the drawing of lots ('The Lottery in Babylon'); a portal through which the whole world can be seen ('The Aleph'); and a library containing everything that can possibly be written ('The Library of Babel'). The settings of his stories range from his native Argentina to classical Greece and entirely fantastic worlds.

The major online resource on Borges is The Garden of Forking Paths.
